The Golden Mile is a safe, simple and measurable health & fitness initiative accessible to all children regardless of age or ability.

It has been proven to improve the health, fitness, attendance and even academic attainment of participants.

Encouraging children to walk, jog or run 50 miles, the focus is on fun and personal achievement, and includes rewards for individuals and class progression.

Takes place within the school gates.

Not affected by bad weather and no equipment or time needed from teachers.

Pupils simply walk, jog or run round the Golden Mile track and the website then tells PUPILS, TEACHERS & PARENTS of the progress of each participant through easy to understand graphs and certificates of achievement!

An impact study of pre Golden Mile vs post Golden Mile over an 8 month period proved:

Pre GM - 68% of reception pupils were able to run continuously at a steady pace for at least two minutes.

Post GM - 100% of reception pupils were able to run continuously at a steady pace for at least two minutes and almost half of the children ran for more than five minutes continuously.

Pre GM - 43% of year two pupils were able to run continuously for at least four minutes.

Post GM - 97% of year two pupils could run continuously at a steady pace for at least four minutes and 50% carried on for at least 15 minutes!

All other year groups showed a similar improvement.
